NSSB is preparing for Y15 filing and has started gathering necessary information from schools. Every school should complete the Y15 Data Collection document and return to their respective NSSB representative. The data is needed for the filing of individual school applications as well as NSSB's state Form 471 applications. Every school should send a completed and signed Technology Plan Certification and Checklist to their NSSB rep. Although an E-rate School Tech Plan is not required for schools who are applying for only "P1" services, every school should definitely have a School Tech Plan...which should be updated annually. The Converged Network Infrastructure project along with the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) and other tech initiatives will have significant implications for school networks which should be reflected in the Tech Plans. Schools should complete the Basic Telecom Services doc if they wish NSSB to apply for discounts on basic phone service and/or long distance service. HawaiianTelcom Data Gathering Forms (DGFs) should be checked against billing statements for accuracy. Schools can request their DGFs from their respective NSSB rep. Likewise, if a school wishes NSSB to apply for cellular services an E-rate Request for Cellular Services doc should be completed.
Most funding commitments for P1 services (telecomm) have been received and discounting may have begun. Funding commitments for Nortel maintenance are beginning to get approved. However, for 80%-90% schools, this was a different methodology of maintenance for which we applied...a "time and materials" versus "insurance" type coverage. Consult with your NSSB representative re Nortel maintenance if applicable. Also, contact your NSSB rep if you have questions about your school's funding status.
Please review, verify and update the list of the phones numbers eligible for E-Rate discount for your school. Send corrections to your NSSB contact. |
